Authorities say daughter of Amanda Berry born in inflatable pool

Authorities today say the 6-year-old daughter of Amanda Berry was born in a small inflatable swimming pool during the time Berry and two other women were held in captivity.

source with access to a police report on the case said Ariel Castro, who is accused of holding the women in his home on Seymour Avenue, occasionally disguised the women and took them from the home. Details of the disguises are unknown.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Berry's daughter was taken from the home on some occasions while the other women -- Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus  -- remained in captivity.

Castro, 52, and his two brothers, Onil, 50, and Pedro, 54, have been arrested but not charged. They were found Monday after Berry escaped and called police.

Two witnesses who saw Berry leave the home Monday with the child said the young girl was wearing a long, black wig that appeared loose. Berry then took it off the child's head, the witnesses said.  

Berry returned home this morning, while DeJesus is expected to return this afternoon.

Police Chief Michael McGrath confirmed that the women had been chained during their captivity. Sources with information on the case said some doors had holes cut out to slide things in and out, such as food. The women stayed in the basement and in an upstairs room, sources said.

Also, there were locks on many of the doors. In some cases, an official said, Ariel Castro would test the women by failing to lock a door.
